Storage Bays & Allocation
Yes. Every storer at Castleview receives their own individually allocated, numbered bay. Your bay is fenced and sectioned off from neighbouring spaces, clearly delineating it as yours. You always use the same bay it is reserved exclusively for you throughout your storage agreement.
No. We do not operate a rack-and-stack system. Your vehicle is never moved, repositioned, or handled by anyone other than you. This is one of the most important differences between Castleview and some competing storage sites in West Sussex, and it eliminates the risk of accidental handling damage entirely.
Each bay is a minimum of 3 metres wide, and internal roadways across the site are wide enough to allow comfortable turning and manoeuvring — even with larger vehicles. You won’t need to spend time struggling to get into your space.
Yes. Your numbered bay is allocated to you for the duration of your storage agreement. You will always return to the same space, every visit.
The site is very popular and available bays are limited. When a space becomes free, it is typically re-let quickly. Bays are offered strictly on a first come, first served basis, secured by a non-refundable holding deposit of £100. We strongly recommend getting in touch as early as possible to avoid missing out.
Access & Opening Hours
The site is accessible 7 days a week, 365 days a year, between the hours of 08:00 and 20:00. Access outside these hours is not available, and these times are strictly observed.
No. Between 08:00 and 20:00, you are free to access your vehicle at any time without giving prior notice. Simply arrive, enter using your ANPR-registered vehicle and key fob, and access your bay. There is no need to call ahead or book a slot.
The site has a 24/7 manned on-site presence. If you need to access the site outside normal hours — for example, due to a late return from a long journey. Please email the office in advance to give reasonable notice so the on-site attendant can be informed. Out-of-hours access is not guaranteed and is considered on a case-by-case basis.
No. Overnight accommodation in vehicles on site is not permitted. This is a strict condition of the site’s planning permission granted by Arun District Council and applies to all storers without exception.
Security
Castleview operates multiple overlapping layers of security:
- Dual-entry authentication — every entry and exit requires both ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) verification and a proximity electronic key fob. Both must confirm your identity for the gate to open.
- Single controlled access point — there is one way in and one way out: a high-security steel automatic sliding gate. All site movements pass through this single point.
- Secure perimeter — the 2-acre site is fully enclosed by secure fencing and mature trees. Beyond the perimeter lie open fields and railway track, with no adjacent buildings or access routes that could provide cover for an intruder.
- 24/7 manned on-site presence — a staffed unit is positioned directly at the main gate around the clock, every day of the year.
- Remote CCTV monitoring — all areas of the site are covered by CCTV, monitored remotely.
- Dead-end road location — the site is at the end of a road with no through access, meaning there is minimal passing traffic and no reason for anyone without a legitimate purpose to be in the vicinity.
ANPR stands for Automatic Number Plate Recognition. Cameras at the gate automatically scan the number plate of every vehicle approaching the site and cross-reference it against our database of registered storers. If the plate is not recognised as belonging to an active storer, the gate will not open. This provides a robust, automated layer of access control that operates on every visit.
Because site access is linked to your vehicle’s number plate via the ANPR system, you must inform us immediately if you change your vehicle or receive a new registration plate. We will update our records and the ANPR system accordingly. Failure to notify us could prevent you from accessing the site.
Please inform us as soon as possible if your fob is lost or stolen. We will deactivate the lost fob immediately and issue a replacement (a deposit is required for all fobs). The dual-authentication system means a lost fob alone does not create a security vulnerability, the ANPR layer remains active.
No. Castleview has no history of break-ins, no incidents of damage to stored vehicles, and no history of flooding. This clean track record is something both our long-term storers and their insurers value highly.
No. The site is situated on flat, elevated, well-drained hard-standing ground and has never flooded. This is an important consideration for anyone storing in coastal or low-lying parts of West Sussex, where other sites may carry flood risk.

Insurance
Storing at a high-security, purpose-built facility like Castleview typically has a positive impact on your insurance premium. Insurers assess the security credentials of storage sites, and Castleview’s dual-entry authentication, 24/7 manned presence, single access point, secure perimeter, and zero-incident record are all factors that major caravan and motorhome insurers regard favourably. Many of our storers benefit from competitive premiums as a direct result of storing here. We recommend asking your insurer to quote specifically with Castleview’s security features in mind.
No. Insurance for your vehicle is your own responsibility. Castleview Storage Ltd does not provide cover for stored vehicles and accepts no liability for loss or damage to any stored property.
Facilities & On-Site Amenities
Yes. There is a coin-operated water meter point on site. Bring your own garden hose connector and pound coins – each pound coin dispenses approximately 5 minutes of water flow, which is ideal for washing down your vehicle before storing it away.
Yes. The site is connected to mains 3-phase electricity. Storers who wish to have a dedicated electric hook-up to their bay are welcome to arrange this. A check-meter unit must be added to measure individual consumption, which is then billed separately. Please contact us for further details and costs.
Yes. Internal roadways are deliberately wide to allow comfortable turning and parking, even with longer vehicles and those towing. You should not need to spend a significant amount of time manoeuvring into your allocated space.
